De Mulher para Mulher – Feminist mentoring programme
De Mulher para Mulher (dMpM) is a feminist mentoring programme that aims to motivate young women to become more politically and civically involved in the defence of gender equality and equal opportunities while promoting the development of skills and knowledge in professional/academic/political areas that are of interest of these young women. This programme is developed by Rede Portuguesa de Jovens para a Igualdade de Oportunidades entre Mulheres e Homens (REDE), a non-profit association that aims to promote gender equality in youth.
Preferably addressed to young women linked to youth or student associations, the project comprises four key components: mentoring programme (meetings between mentors and mentees); skills training actions for young women; awareness-raising actions on women’s rights and human rights; the development of individual projects of each mentee within her area of interest and always with a gender perspective.
According to the interests/area of each mentee, she will be assigned a mentor – older women – who fits her profile and goals.
Feminist mentoring differs from standard mentoring in that it has a political and ethical component: the promotion of women’s rights and the creation and development of solidarity networks between women.
