Gulbenkian Knowledge Academies
The Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (FCG) launched the Academias Gulbenkian Conhecimento (Gulbenkian Knowledge Academies) in May 2018, with the objetive of promoting skills so that today’s children and young people are able to face a rapidly changing future. With this project, the Foundation aims to reach 10,000 young people over the next five years and equip a hundred non-profit organisations with methodologies and strategies that are proven effective to develop new skills in children and youth.
Hosted by public or private non-profit organisations across the country, the Academies promote artistic, scientific, community, cultural or sports activities in areas as diverse as education, health, social or technological issues, which develop, in children and young people under 25, skills such as critical thinking, communication, resilience, teamwork, overcoming frustration, complex problem solving and adaptability to change. All the Academies can count on the technical and financial support and mentoring of FCG.
The mentoring is carried out by reference organisations responsible for mapping, analysing, and identifying training and intervention needs, monitoring the project, and assessing the results. The mentoring team will promote continuous learning throughout the programme.
